Questions about FOTA

1.What is the time-out period for sending firmware packet?

Answer: The total time-out period of the firmware packet is 20 minutes, and that for a single packet is about 2 minutes.

2.During FOTA of the device, why the device can receive the discover command issued by the platform for times?

Answer: This is a common issue. It not only appears in FOTA. It’s possibly because when the device is updating, it updates the resource type, so the platform will release the discover command again.

3.Why the task can’t be successfully canceled?

Answer: During cancellation, the platform will release an erasure instruction, but the platform will release the instruction when it receives the uplink data; if the heartbeat is set to be too long, it needs to wait for a certain time.

4.What are the conditions for the module to use the platform FOTA?

Answer: The module using the platform FOTA function needs to meet the following two conditions:

  • The module has the firmware upgrading ability.
  • Users are recommended to use the SDK provided by us.

Questions about SOTA

5.What’s the difference between the platform FOTA and SOTA?

Answer: The difference between the platform FOTA and SOTA consists in that:

  • FOTA is used for remote upgrading of the module firmware.
